School Governance

During the school year, our community comes together for monthly General Meetings, and parent/guardian participation is an key component in how we build our community. Financial, social, and community decisions are made at these meetings, and are attended by our principal, teacher(s), and parents.

One of the distinguishing features of our school community is the high level of family involvement. While our educators are autonomous in their roles, many families offer to enrich the school experiencing by sharing their time, effort and talents: web design, technical expertise (e.g. sound, lighting, stage direction), event planning, culinary skills, classroom support and enrichment, committee work, administrative support, yearbook co-ordination, photography, videography, archiving, staff liaisons, artists, fundraising, musicians, games co-ordinators, field trip co-ordinators and drivers are but a few examples. Each September, a list of volunteer positions is made available to families. The roles vary year-to-year based on our educators’ needs and wishes, and/or on decisions made about community-building events at our General Meetings.
